A Whole New World

Sometimes, when you travel, it doesn’t feel like visiting a new country, but rather an unknown alien planet! Denmark seems so familiar yet different. Just like back home, people are hesitant to talk to you at first, but if you approach them with kindness, they return that kindness tenfold. Copenhagen looks like what you would expect out of a European city getting ready for Christmas. Still, every aspect of its infrastructure is built to help lead the city to increased environmental sustainability. Every trash receptacle is divided to separate organic waste from paper, plastic, and others. The tap water has been carefully treated and extracted from natural wells to give people access to some of the cleanest and best-tasting water I’ve ever had! Even the transit system from the busses to trains works on an honor system where no one checks for your tickets. It’s assumed that you’ve paid! This way of life seems alien to me, and I cannot wait to learn and experience more on this trip!
